In the extraordinary growing season of 2013, Sassetti pulled out a smashing success. Often their strategy is to wait until well into October before harvesting a stunning small crop of small-cluster Sangiovese. Flavours were off the charts, acids remained vibrant and tannins were fully developed. It very well could be the greatest bottle ever to come off this amazing Estate.
Those are some tall words for a winery that scored a perfect 100 points in 2010! Wishing we had more...Enjoy!
About the wine
The Sassetti family has been producing wines from Montalcino for over three generations. The Pertimali vineyards are known for creating wines that show a fine balance of fruit-forwardness, reminiscent of the wines from southern Montalcino, and the structured, mineral wines of the north. Livio Sassetti and his two sons create these wines in time-honoured traditional methods. This includes hand-harvesting, giant oak bottle aging and adhering to biodynamic and organic farming practices.
Winemaker: Lorenzo Sassetti

"Great Brunello. Well balanced, smooth, and low tanins. Really enjoyed." - Jeff L.

"Complex aromas of dried figs, dark fruits and hints of walnuts and dried meat. Full body, dense and polished palate. Velvety and poised tannins and a flavorful finish. Yet always refined and beautiful. You want to drink it now and can, but it has a beautiful future."
