Podere Montale was founded in July 2014, but finds its true beginning in the first harvest in 2015. The story has to be written. During these first years we have taken a path aimed at geographical and social integration. The plan is to become a benchmark for the whole community of Seggiano and Montecucco production area. We are in an authentic and undiscovered territory, magnetic and in some ways mysterious. Our goal is to enhance the place where we live through a logic of growth and mutual improvement.
Our products come to life where the Val d'Orcia leaves the pass at the slopes of an old volcano, the Monte Amiata. It dictates the times of our land. The earliest evidence of the territory goes back to a primitive painting in the so-called "cave of the archer" datable between 5000 and 3000 b.c. However, the area underwent its development with the settlement of the Etruscans. Mount Amiata, visible from all the Etruscan territory, represented the place of worship par excellence. In fact, its name seems to come from Tiniatus, the mountain of Tinia, the most important Etruscan divinity.
The territory is perfect to produce olive oil and wine being in a place that benefits the ventilation coming from the sea and at the same time the presence of a mountain of about 1800 meters behind it. During the summers the long and sunny days are mitigated by a strong nocturnal thermal excursion.
This climatic conditions, the stony subsoil and the presence of ancient lava compounds give our wines a particular freshness.
