There is a small intimate town south of Florence that has generated an laughable amount of perfect and near-perfect wines, and the best part is - they do it with no winemaking tricks. These wines taste like you remember - the humbly offered but majestic tasting wines that turn Tuscan trips into lifelong memories. This 2015 beauty showcases all the herb-flecked sun-ripened succulence of the vintage and drinks well right from the get-go. A true delight!

About the wine
From the small estate of only 25 hectares, 15 of which are for vineyards, Piaggio was founded by Mauro Vannucci, in the mid 70s, with a vision of creating an amazing wine from the Carmignano area. His vision came true with his first vintage in 1991.
This perfect expression of a Super Tuscan dials into those workhorse Sangiovese notes we long for. Sour cherry, ripe tomato and hints of herbs and spice. Add the Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc for depth of flavour and a dollop of Merlot to really boost the fleshy fruit notes. Giving round tannin, balanced by an even acidity, the finish seems to never end. The 2015 is filled with life and will surely wow anyone you share with.

"Piaggia's 2015 Carmignano Il Sasso is rich, ample and voluptuous in what is a very representative expression of the year. Black cherry, plum, lavender, spice, tobacco and dried herbs develop in the glass, but the 2015 is all about fruit intensity and texture. There is not much subtlety here, but wow, is the 2015 gorgeous"
