The Barolo script tends to be carved up in a series of hair-raising chapters. Such would be the case in 2014, a growing season that began uneventfully, only to take hair-raising turns, featuring heat spikes and cooling rain. But as we may have mentioned in the past, the most exemplary bottles are made in the last weeks before harvest, never more so than in the last weeks of September during Italy’s brilliant, warm Autumn of 2014.
If you’ve never plugged Piedmont into Google images, then now’s the time. A northern Italian region that spoons both France and Switzerland, is one of the more picturesque wine regions in the world and better yet, the wines do the dramatic backdrop justice. Piedmont wines benefit from the warmth of the Mediterranean and the chill of the Alps, and the combination of these climates means the valleys will often be shrouded in fog.
About the wine
Sourced from the heart of Barolo with the families of Clerico, Scavino, Mascarello, Conterno, Sandrone all contributing to this special bottle. This unique small producer, never been in the USA before, crafts a surprisingly approachable Barolo to have while you wait a few years for the Conterno & Clerico to soften up. And by that, I mean, you won’t be able to keep your paws off this for as long as you have a six pack of this ridiculously delicious Barolo in your hands!
Turning out dizzying quality and concentration. Spectacular quality for a fraction of the cost of its counterparts!
This’ll cellar for a long, long time, but a spell in the decanter is enough to see it open up, take you out of your living room, and transport you to the mountain-encircled foggy hills of Piemonte.
Appellation: Barolo, Piedmont, Italy

"Raisin and plum fruit front. Light tannins made it remarkably smooth and drinkable after decanting. Perfect with our tomahawk ribeye."
