Chilean winemaker Miguel Besoain is only 35 years old, but he knows his Pinot. A graduate of the University of Burgundy, France, Besoain spent a decade in the vineyards of France and Germany before returning home to Chile’s Maipo Valley. He poured his extensive experience into a new family business, focused on small production, high-quality wine from organically-farmed vineyards, controlling every step of the process from grape to glass.
LOS MORROS means “the hills,” and takes its name from the mountainous terroir of the vineyards that run through the hills of Besoain’s Maipo home. Those hills are difficult to farm, but create Pinot Noir with an exceptional balance between ripe fruit and acidic verve.
You can taste that balance in every sip of the juicy Los Morros 2018 Pinot Noir. It’s the kind of quality that only hand-crafting can give to Pinot, exceedingly rare for an everyday sipper. It bursts from the glass with strawberry, red apple, and vanilla. Stainless steel aging on the fine yeasts giving this red a sense of plush roundness while emphasizing its fruit-first character—expressive, young, and just an unbelievable value.
