The 2016 vintage is being hailed as a “Spectacular” and the year that’s created Napa’s most 100-point wines.
The Porter Family vineyard is literally surrounded by greatness a la the Meteor Vineyard, and Andy Erickson’s Favia , making the Irreverence Cabernet a tongue-in-cheek nod to their exclusive terroir. Platinum-grade grape growing and winemaking collide in this Cab—If There is One Wine this IS IT!
About the Wine
When the Porter Family put down roots in Coombsville, they quickly found fossilized sand pipers, and the amazing discoveries haven’t stopped since. From the hottest subregion for new Napa Cabs, this Coombsville producer is bucking the trend and packing value in with the prestige of their wines.
Winemaker Ken Bernards, a Pinot-phile who spread his wings making top-scoring wines from Oregon to Chile, gives Irreverence a sizzling hot fermentation to extract the maximum power and fruit from exclusive Atlas Peak fruit. A chemist gone winemaker, Bernards’ science-driven approach yields innovative wines with precise flavors and incredible aromatics including plum, sage, and red raspberry. An exceptional vintage and aging in New French Oak adds spicy complexity to this red that made us swoon—despite being jam-packed with concentration and complexity, the newly-released ‘16 Irreverence is approachable, and drinks like a dream.
