oisterous body, check. Layers and depth of flavour, check. Great price, double check! The Hess Allomi Cabernet Sauvignon is truly a triple threat. It's great today, but it also has cellaring potential, and is sure to dazzle anyone you share it with.
We love the lush black fruit flavours of cassis and blackberry, rounded out by bright red fruits of plum and red currant. The Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot additions create this backside that is almost mysterious.
Structured but sandy tannins give this full-bodied wine a nice backbone, perfect for pairing with assorted grilled meats and vegetables.
About the wine
When much of Napa sees the summer fog, the Allomi Vineyard is often on the flip side, enjoying a bit of heat, which is just the thing for Cabernet Sauvignon.
Pope Valley is less well-known than other notable Napa locations, but the combination of steady heat and well-drained clay loam soils allows fruit to ripen evenly, gaining welcomed complexity and layers of flavors.
Full-bodied, with classic Cabernet red fruit flavors set off by aromas and flavors of currant and blackberry, Allomi Cabernet is noted for moderate, well-integrated tannins showing a round, plush mouthfeel. Distinct notes of vanilla and oak spice from aging in American oak add to the personality of the wine.
One of the most popular Napa Cabs in Canada!

"This wine delivers a robustly rich experience of lengthy appeal. Blended with 12% Petite Sirah, among other varieties, and aged in American oak, the palate shows a wealth of black cherry, cassis and blackberry around toasted oak and a hint of clove."
