Far from the rolling hills of Tuscany and slopes of Piedmont, Goretti has been stealthily challenging the status of Italy’s big reds, and now they’re ready to shine!

Thick-skinned, tannic Sagrantino grapes give incredible structure and full-body to this oak-aged beauty, which blends red and black cherry fruit with spicy nuances and just a hint of earth. Yes, that’s right--this wine combines the best element of Napa and Bordeaux reds in one bottle! It took Goretti three centuries to get this good, but now the wines are disappearing--and fast!

About the wine

Long one of Umbria’s best wineries, the 3rd and 4th generation of Goretti is expanding the family business from classical Sagrantino wines to trendy Super Tuscan-style reds and beyond! Relying on a unique combination of traditional methods and cutting edge research, the family has outpaced the competition and today’s deal is a shot at the signature red that started it all.

Made 100% from the Sagrantino grape native to Perguia, Sagrantino de Montefalco is known for its flavor-packed density and penchant for surviving long years in the cellar with delicious results. A naturally thick-skinned grape, Goretti’s version has a dark ruby hue, and rewards drinkers with flavors across the fruit spectrum and firm tannins that sent us reaching for another glass. Grown on clay-limestone and gravel soil, it’s no wonder the family has relied on Sagrantino for centuries--it’s damn good.
