Not all Cabs are made equal, even in glorious Rutherford. Some have a secret weapon - Bosché and Sycamore. These two sites earned top acclaim from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate in 2014 - 96+ and 95+ scores - and they are the secret sauce in Freemark’s Rutherford Cabernet! Smart buyers will gobble up case after case of this!
About the wine
It’s hard to remember an offer that matches the incredible value offered by Freemark Abbey, who demonstrate that power doesn’t have to come at the expense of balance and complexity. Even better than the plumpest, fruitiest cult Cabernets are real deal wines like this that offer muscle, length and loads of personality. Leave it to the world’s most famous wine critic to explain why Bosché Cabernet is more precious than gold:
“The famous Bosché Vineyard is a spot in Rutherford composed of gravelly, loamy soil and situated just at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains. This vineyard has turned out many a classic wine capable of lasting 30-40 years...It offers an inky ruby/purple color, a gorgeous nose of graphite, black cherry, wood spice and barbecue notes, enormous body and richness, and a heady, full-bodied, long finish of 50+ seconds with moderately high tannins. This is a great classic from Napa” - Robert Parker on the 2013 Bosché Vineyard Cabernet

“Impeccable finesse, refined balance and a robust structure make this phenomenal Napa Cabernet a wine to cherish. Dusty ripe dark Rutherford fruit on the nose heralds the incredible density and layers of fruit to follow. The first sip is dominated by bold dark fruit and intense tannins that, with time, eventually evolve into a gamut of flavors ranging from intense black cherry and dark plums to licorice, roasted coffee beans and aged pipe tobacco notes. The finish is intense and bolstered with rich, ripe tannins that show this to be a serious wine built for long aging. This powerful wine, like an iron fist in a silk glove, will gracefully age for another decade or two, but with a hard decant, is drinking beautifully now and a Porterhouse, T-bone or Filet Mignon with a side of scalloped potatoes and rich gravy would be perfect with this masterpiece.”
