One of the top Napa Estates... Dominus! The 2015 Napanook is another outstanding wine from vintner Christian Moueix. The legendary owner of Petrus, La Fleur Petrus, Trotanoy, and Magdelaine. These will be gone fast!

The Moueix name is synonymous with viticultural excellence, from Petrus to Trotanoy, every wine is a trip down perfection lane.

About the wine

In the late 1960's while attending UC-Davis Christian fell in love with the Napa Valley and its wines. Son of Jean-Pierre Moueix, the famed wine merchant and producer from Libourne, France, Moueix returned home in 1970 to manage the family vineyards including Petrus, La Fleur Petrus, Trotanoy, and Magelaine. In 1981 he discovered the Napanook vineyard and later becoming its sole owner. And the rest is history.

"Moderate density and aromas of roasted nuts and exotic spices introduces an elegant palate and structure. Refined tannins and balanced acidity, dark plum, black cherry, dark chocolate and the spices aromas exist through a rounded cedar framework. Versatile and complex, the layers transition cleanly while the tannins and acidity add to the depth of each. Good finish that accents the roasted nuts and spices while the black cherry contrasts with a tinge of sweetness. Excellent!!!!" —Matthew S.

96 Points James Suckling
"This is fantastic on the nose with blackberries and forest flowers. Very aromatic. Full body with soft, well-integrated and medium-grained tannins. Undertones of black olives. Love the hints of sandalwood. Drink or hold."

93 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"Bottled in July 2017, Dominus’ more approachable, less tannic sister wine, Napanook, is a blend this year of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Napanook Proprietary Red Wine is redolent of crème de cassis, potpourri, plum preserves and violets with hints of dark chocolate, menthol, licorice and charcoal. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is densely packed with black fruit preserves and earthy layers, supported by firm, ripe, fine-grained tannins and finishing with great length."
