"Complex with red dark fruits, cherry, herbs, minerals. Elegant, silky texture and well balanced."
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
94 / 100

Chateauneuf du Pape is revered as one of the best red blends in the world, and Font de Cortedune is holding onto that title firmly with its energetic, multi-faceted reds that explode with characteristic French earthiness and incredible power. The layers of flavor--from violets to sage, raspberry, plum and currant--are seemingly endless in this bottle, which has the structure to last another decade.

The family-owned estate is even regional legends a run for their money with this brooding, red--a natural comparison to legends like Chateau Rayas, this CDP is a must-have for chilly fall nights!

"A standout in my blind tastings, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape comes from a domaine heretofore unreviewed by this publication. Fermented and aged solely in concrete vats, it's essentially Grenache (there's 1% of other varieties mixed in) from sandy sites in some prestigious lieux-dits: La Crau, Le Cristia, La Guigasse, Le Pointu and Saint Georges. Subtle hints of cinnamon, clove and leather accent cherry fruit in this full-bodied, expansive, velvety wine. It's mouth coating and long on the finish, picking up lingering notes of garrigue and dried spices. Based on this effort, the brother-sister team of Frédéric and Caroline Charrier will be worthy of a second look when I'm next in the region."
