Domaine Durieu is a relatively new estate in the Southern Rhone Valley. It was created in 1976 when Lucile Avril, the mother of Paul Durieu gave him a few hectares of vines to get his career as a wine producer going.
Domaine Durieu has been shaped little by little by Paul Durieu since the 1970s. The winery was created in 1976, date of the first vintage. The estate's vineyards come from the Avril family for Châteauneuf du Pape and the Durieu family for the Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu. Complemented with very old vines, some dating back to World War I as well as younger vines, the vineyard offers a complete range from Côtes du Ventoux to Châteauneuf du Pape through the Côtes du Rhône and Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu . Built in 1615 the Cave is located in the heart of the village, Avenue Baron Le Roy

“Overall, quite nice: bold fruit flavours but with a soft and velvety texture.”

"The impressive 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape is a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre, 3% Cinsault and 2% Counoise, all aged in concrete. It shows lovely cherry-raspberry fruit aromas, ample weight and richness on the palate and a creamy texture. The tannins are supple, and the finish is long, picking up hints of cola and dried spices. A solid choice for drinking over the next decade."
