Word of caution from Château Boutisse. This one will be utterly quaffable for the next 12-18 months. Then, it will likely shut down and go into hiding. At 24 months in 2020 the patient individual will be rewarded with secondary flavours and aromas as the 2015 awakens and will be set for a long glory ride into the Gironde sunset!

About the wine

Château Boutisse is known for being among the best of St. Emilion Grand Crus. With vineyards planted on the plateau of Saint-Emilion, the limestone in the area has major affects on the consistent quality of Boutisse wines. Limestone naturally creates moisture stress, which means it withdraws water from the soil. This insures that the vines have to work harder to find nutrients and water; creating a lower yield which is what winemakers are looking for! St. Emilion is known for this terroir, which is why such high quality grapes are found in this region.

This 2015 vintage of Grand Cru is truly fantastic, a hot summer and sunny harvest season allowed for the Bordeaux varietals to grow to their full maturity. Silky, structured and full bodied with a lingering finish; this red blend has great aging potential. Cellar it for a year or two, or drink it now with your go to red meat dish!

"No need to ask, it's a smooth operator. Smoooooth operator!" - Linda C.

"Beautiful. Silky smooth and balanced. Lovely minerality." Matt B.

"The 2015 Boutisse is terrific. Deep, dark and pliant, it exudes class from the very first taste. Black cherry, espresso, chocolate and licorice are some of the many notes that flesh out in this powerful, ample Saint-Émilion. The 2015 is extroverted and also very beautiful in every way."

17+/20, Jancis Robinson
“Spicy, fragrant and complex with a peppery character that could almost be Rhône. Plenty of sweet fruit to balance with a long, opulent and juicy style. Very enjoyable, very immediate and full of potential – seriously good! Drink 2019-2029”
