“Without a doubt a stellar wine from the classic Chappellet family.”

The legendary Chappellet name rings with excellence. The iconic estate is perched on Pritchard Hill on the top of Napa Valley along other famous wineries such as Bryant or Colgin. One of the first properties in Napa to plant vineyards on hillsides, half a century later, Chappellet wines are still among Napa’s most coveted wines.

Blended from the traditional Bordeaux varietals, the Chappellet Mountain Cuvee Proprietor’s Blend builds on five decades of experience crafting great Napa County mountain grown wines.

This inviting wine offers a complex array of elegant aromas that include spicy red fruit, black cherry, sage, anise, clove and cocoa powder. The palate is silky and balanced, with a plush, mouth coating texture that makes the wine immediately approachable and delicious. Flavors of red currant and cassis are underscored by hints of smoke and vanilla, while seamlessly integrated tannins add length and structure to this complex blend of Bordeaux varietals.

About the wine

The Chappellet family’s romance with Pritchard Hill started more than five decades ago when Donn and Molly Chappellet first glimpsed its magnificent vista of forests and wildflower-filled meadows.

Inspired by the notion that Bacchus loves the hills, the Chappellet’s followed the advice of renowned winemaker André Tchelistcheff and settled on Pritchard Hill’s rocky slopes, becoming the first winery to plant vineyards exclusively on high-elevation hillsides.

From these Pritchard Hill vineyards, the Chappellet’s have been crafting extraordinary, age-worthy wines since 1967.

A wonderful Bordeaux-styled red blend—the wine is made from a combination of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet franc—the elegant 2015 Chappellet Mountain Cuvée offers bright and appealing red fruit aromas and flavors. The stylish palate textures pair it nicely with grilled lamb chops.
