"The 2014 Brunello di Montalcino from Caparzo is a lovely showing in this vintage."

The Caparzo Estate sits on Brunello di Montalcino’s best hillsides and is a benchmark for traditional, top-rated Brunello, consistently outranking regional power players like $125+ Valdicava and Casanova di Neri.

Elegant and age-worthy, this classically-styled Brunello takes Sangiovese to the max, highlighting its signature tart cherry fruit, cloaked in savory herbs, and with soft, lingering tannins. Vintages like this only come every 20 years--don’t let your cellar be dry!

About the wine

Famous for its wines since the 16th century, Caparzo sits literally on hallowed ground. Located on prime real estate in Brunello on hillsides with an altitude up to 1500 feet above sea level, Caparzo’s vines bathe in fresh breezes from the Tyrrhenian sea. Beneath the ground, clay soils provide ideal drainage and nutrients for ripe, complex Sangiovese vines.

"Outstanding Brunello! Long Long Finish! - Ed C.

92 Points, International Wine Report
"The 2014 Brunello di Montalcino from Caparzo is a lovely showing in this vintage. It displays fresh, inviting aromas of red berries and dried cherries that come together with spices, white truffles and hints of saddle leather. On the palate this is medium-bodied and nicely structured with a gorgeous silky tannins. It continues to impress as or shows wonderful balance, with a lovely touch of acidity leading up to the sleek finish. The 2014 is drinking beautifully now and should continue to do so over the course of the next decade. A total success from Caparzo in this vintage."

"Bright, with cherry and raspberry fruit, this Brunello is elegant and charming. Accents of mineral and peppery greens—arugula, mizuna—develop on the lingering aftertaste. Best from 2021 through 2032. 12,500 cases made, 5,000 cases imported."

91 Points, James Suckling
"Aromas of dark fruit, dried leaves and hints of cedar follow through to a medium to full body, a solid core of fruit and chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. A little hollow in the center palate, but delivers high quality for the vintage. Give it a year or two to fill in. Drink in 2020."

90 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2014 Brunello di Montalcino is a ripe and nicely balanced effort from a vintage that threw its share of curveballs at producers. The wine rises above those difficulties, showing clearly delineated tones of cherry, plum and spice. It is crisp and lean in terms of mouthfeel, with the shallow depth of flavors that is definitely characteristic of the 2014 vintage. This easy-drinking Brunello ages in traditional oak casks (made with Slavonian oak) for two years. Production is very generous with 160,000 bottles made."
