The bang for your buck on this red is incredible! Year after year, critics sing praises for this ripe blackcurrant, juicy black plums and hints of chocolate cherry. The round tannin and acidity create a weighty mouthfeel perfect for any occasion! Enjoy today but don’t be afraid to tuck a few away for a rainy day!

About the wine

The Estate is comprised of 150 hectares of vineyards on the edge of an abundant State forest and bordered by the Pyrenees mountain range, about seven kilometers out of the township of Avoca.

Ample amounts of sunshine ensure their grapes ripen to full maturity with the heat moderated by altitude (400 metres above sea level) and southerly ocean winds allowing us to escape the extremes of temperature associated with continental climates. The surrounding mountains and the undulating nature of their Estate see cool air movement down the slopes, preventing frost which afflicts so many other Victorian vineyards. Essentially, the climate is warm enough to give concentration and power, yet cool enough to give vibrancy and elegance, resulting in remarkable Shiraz.

Reviews

95 Pts, James Halliday
"From the vineyard block usually forming part of the Reserve wines planted in the ’70s, matured for 24 months in French and American oak. Elegance doesn’t come easily in the Pyrenees, but this wine has it thanks to its medium-bodied and fresh red fruits."

"Very nice balance, bold fruit flavours, cherry, blackberry, tobacco." Andrew P.

95 Pts, Tracy-Lynne MacLellan, Certified Sommelier
“Just the right amount of pepper spice balanced with ripe, dark fruit. Grippy tannins with a super fresh and juicy finish, which makes this wine a hit with those "smooth" wine lovers. Serve this at a party when you're not sure what everyone likes — it's a crowd-pleaser. Outstanding value."
