About the wine
One of California’s oldest wineries, Beringer has been a pioneer in American winemaking for over a century. One of Napa Valley’s first wineries, the estate was the first to offer tours in 1934, and the first to use gravity-fed winemaking technology and cave facilities in the new world. Similarly, they were instrumental in discovering and pioneering viticulture in Napa and Knights Valley region and now
A blend of Beringer’s top barrels from the pristine 2014 vintage, the Knight’s Valley Reserve is the legendary estate’s Gold Standard. From a season that benefited from even weather and a lack of heat waves, the 2014 fully embodies the warm climate of Knight’s Valley in a wine that bursts with fruit-driven complexity and has the structure to age for a decade. Famous for its rugged landscape, this estate is a jewel in the crown of California’s oldest continually operating winery, and so are the wines.

Vineyard Notes: Nestled among the rolling hills near the town of Paso Robles, Camatta Hills is a 600 acre vineyard planted with Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Mourvedre, and Roussanne. The Cuesta Ridge coastal mountain range to the west protects the valley in which the vineyard sits, allowing for even ripening with hot daytime temperatures balanced by cooling Pacific Ocean breezes and maritime fog in the evenings. Camatta’s incredibly chalky limestone soils lend the grapes their most distinctive characteristics. Restrictive soils and small canopies create vines that must stress themselves to reach moisture and nutrients, resulting in great flavor and tannin development.% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Franc, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot
