About the wine
One of California’s oldest wineries, Beringer has been a pioneer in American winemaking for over a century. One of Napa Valley’s first wineries, the estate was the first to offer tours in 1934, and the first to use gravity-fed winemaking technology and cave facilities in the new world. Similarly, they were instrumental in discovering and pioneering viticulture in the Napa Valley region, where this opulent and powerful Cabernet Sauvignon was grown.
This wine has a rich, inky colour with bold flavours and finesse for days!
Winemaker's Notes
The Beringer reserve vineyards offer Cabernet Sauvignon of such quality that a minimalist approach to winemaking has long defined this special blend. Each vineyard is vinified separately and monitored carefully from the moment the fruit comes into the winery at harvest. Tailored pump-over techniques are used for optimal extraction, and the wine is aged in hand-selected, custom-toasted barrels of French oak (100% new). Each lot was aged for 20 months before selection of the final blend, to allow each vineyard to express the depth of its unique terroir.

“The highest end Beringer product I’ve tried. The wine is elegant, structured, and full bodied with a pronounced flavour intensity." Kevin S
95 Points - Robert Parker
“Always the best of all of them is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve...The wine has an inky purple color, a big, sweet kiss of pen ink, graphite, cedar wood, licorice, blackberries and blackcurrants with some background oak, but it’s dominated by the fruit extract and the full-bodied richness and glycerin this wine possesses. The texture is open and lush, and the wine more forward and sexy than the 2013 was at a similar stage of development. It should drink well for 20-25 years, as these wines have an impeccable track record of ageability.” - Robert M. Parker Jr., The Wine Advocate, December 2016
95 Points - James Suckling
"Aromas of blueberry and blackberry character. Hints of dark fruit, violets and stones. Full-bodied, powerful and dense with beautiful fruit concentration and silky tannins. Shows reserve and finesse with structure. Better in 2021."
94 Points - Vinous
"Beringer's flagship 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve is mostly Howell Mountain fruit. Rich and seamless on the palate, the 2014 possesses striking depth, along with scents of black cherry, chocolate, menthol and spices. Interestingly, the Private Reserve is more accessible than some of the single-vineyard Cabernets. Accordingly, it will drink well with minimal cellaring." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2016
