When we see that trademark splash of wax, we know good times are ahead. The signature Burgundy drizzle on Belle Glos' bottles makes eyebrows raise, pupils dilate and mouths water. There's a reason why - there is simply no more decadent Pinot Noir on Earth – It will vanish in an instant!
The Wagner family (Caymus) boasts multiple Wine of the Year awards and this prestigious award is in the future for Joe Wagner's Belle Glos Pinots.
In a mere 15 years, Belle Glos has gone from upstart to a winery that deservedly competes with Kistler, Peter Michael and Pisoni as America's best.
There's no doubt about supreme quality when you see that splash of red wax. Low yield paired with increased demand led Belle Glos to take a price increase, but the wine is worth it – we’re talking a wine that competes with $200+ Kistler and Peter Michael Pinots.
About the wine
The Wagner family recognized the unique conditions found in the Santa Lucia Highlands and they planted Las Alturas to take full advantage.
The fruit from this vineyard tastes like it came from another planet – the super-long hang-time and low yields generate Pinot with unctuous texture and splendid, flowing fruit.
A sip of Las Alturas explodes onto the palate with black plum, blackberry and black cherry, coated in dark chocolate and kissed with a beautiful oak treatment that layers on nuances of camp smoke, cocoa beans and espresso crema.

“Amazing Pinot. Such a rich mouth feel with big fruit and then eucalyptus and forest floor on the finish. I'm truly impressed.” - Stewart H.
“Exceptional. Probably the most muscular and brawny Pinot I've tried, yet it's softness, delicacy, and complexity all remain intact. A standout wine which other Pinots can only aspire to be someday.” - John L.

“Spares no expense, with lavish smoke and black licorice–scented oak framing a rich core of dark berry, anise, boysenberry and savory herb notes. Full-blown and expressive through a persistent, mouth coating finish.”
